The Mountains of the Chiemgau Alps

Where we are in the south of the Chiemgau and the Chiemgau Alps  tower up to nearly 6,000ft, there is a phantastic mountain world to discover.

Here you discover the fragrant mountain air, listen to the roar of the mountain streams or let your view roam the wide open countryside from one of our mountain vantage points on the Hochgern (our “backyard” mountain), Geigelstein (the wildflower mountain of the Chiemgau with its Nature Preserve Peak, at the end of the Achental, chairlift)

The best ways to experience nature in the mountains is by hiking and biking. Beautiful mountain lakes and almost 100 alms and mountain inns, two fairy tale parks, mountain cable cars and lifts, recreational swimming are the favorite destinations of our guests - big and small.

Bavarian Festivals

The lively traditions of the Almabtrieb (when the cattle return from the summer alpine pastures), Trachtenumzüge (parades featuring traditional regional dresses), or Pferdeumritt (parade of decorated horses) assure a typical Bavarian vacation experience.

Winter Region

In the winter, the Chiemgau alps transform themselves into a winter wonderland for skiers, sledders, and skaters. At the beginning of each year, the superb World Cup Events are a major draw, with the Biathlon World Cup events in Ruhpolding, the speed skating in Inzell and cross country in Reit im Winkel.
