Use the local transportation means of bus, train and boat during your vacation in the Chiemgau.  This way you can substantially enlarge the radius of your undertakings, without additional effort on your part.

RVO Bus, frequently free of charge

As guest with the Kurkarte, you can use the busses of the Regionalverkehr Oberbayern (RVO) for free or at a discount in

  • Prien (shopping, the movies, boat trips)
  • Übersee (Chiemsee and boat trips)
  • Rottau (Klaushäusl Museum)
  • Grassau
  • Staudach-Egern (educational marshland treck)
  • Marquartstein (fairy tale park, Hochplatte mountain lift)
  • Unterwössen (Hotel Astrid, indoor pool, soaring site,W össener See
  • Schleching (Wildflower mountain Geigelstein , mountain lift)
  • Obewössen (trailhead for Taubensee lake and Feldlahnalm trail)
  • Reit im Winkl
  • Traunstein (cultural events, shopping, movies)

Chiemsee-Ringlinie RVO

For bike and hiking tours  around the Chiemsee, the bus circle line will make your life much easier. Its busses have trailers to carry bicycles.

Bayern Ticket of the German Railroad (DB)

For day trips throughout the region, ask the bus driver or at the Tourist InformationOffice (Tourist-Info)  about the “Bayernticket”.  It is a heavily discounted ticket that enables you, and up to five people in total to travel for the day throughout Bavaria.  Special rates apply to the transport of bicycles.

Chiemsee Passenger Ships

Throughout the year, with changing summer and winter schedules, you can travel across the Chiemsee in one of the passenger ships. Use the variety of itineraries on offer. You have the opportunity to visit the King Ludwig Palace, his own Versailles, on the Herrenchiemsee island. You can also visit the lake’s second largest island, the Fraueninsel, with its convent and convent  store. Take the time and circle the island on an easy walk. Take advantage of the local restaurants and beer gardens.
